What is the Inergen Fire Suppression System?

kontraktor fire protection fire protection contractor

INERGENis a fire extinguishing agent, which is a mixture of natural gas: Nitrogen (N²) 52%, Argon (Ar) 40% and Carbon Dioxide (CO²) 8%.

INERGEN works effectivelyextinguishing fire by reducing the oxygen (O²) concentration in the protected room to a level where fire cannot occur (O² concentration below 15%) but is still safe for humans.

Frequently Questions & Answers

[ultimate-faqs]

INERGEN as a fire extinguishing agent registered in NFPA 2001, has many beneficial properties and characteristics, including:

Has electrical conductivity = Zero, so as not to cause damage to electronic equipment in the protected room.

INERGEN as a high-value electronic device protection solution, while water and chemical-based extinguishers will only cause damage.

Leaves no residue which needs to be cleaned.

Does not cause shock effectstemperature changes (Temperature Shock).

Has a gas phase, so that INERGEN is able to penetrate all the deepest parts and components of the protected room.

Has been tested safefor humans.

Does not cause product decomposition(e.g.: HF – hydrofluoric acid), which can harm equipment or people in the protected room.

Refilling is very economicalso it can be donereal test discharge periodically.

INERGEN is an environmentally friendly medium:

Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) = 0

Global Warming Potential (GWP) = 0

Atmospheric Life Time (ALT) = 0

INERGEN is very good and suitable for use on potential class A, B, or C fires.

INERGEN is very suitable for use in rooms:

Data Center, Server Room, Electrical Room, Library Archives, Substation, Switch Gear Room and others.

Explanation of How the Fire-Eater lnergen Fire Suppression System Works

The lnergen Suppression system consists of six parts:

  1. Control Panel

Is the brain behind aautomatic fire extinguishing systemThis control panel coordinates all actions necessary to extinguish a fire. It has self-monitoring capabilities, meaning it periodically and continuously checks to determine whether the system is still functioning properly. If the control panel detects a failure (which could cause the system to malfunction) in this self-monitoring, the panel will indicate a system fault.

  1. Alarm Notification

Alarm notifications come in two types: sound and light. Alarm notification devices include bells, horn strobes, and warning lamps.

The bell provides sound notification, the strobe horn provides sound and light notification, while the warning lamp provides brief information about the alarm condition that has occurred.

The warning lamp placed on the main door will light up when an alarm occurs.

There are two types of warning lamps, namely:

  • EVACUATE warning lamp, which is installed indoors as a guide for people to immediately leave the room when an alarm occurs.
  • INERGEN DISCHARGE warning lamp, which is installed outside the room as a warning so that people do not enter the fire area when an alarm occurs.
  1. Detection

The purpose of a fire detection system is to detect a fire as early as possible to minimize damage. When a fire is detected, a signal from the detector is transmitted to the control panel, which then activates the system.INERGEN.

There are many types of fire detection available today. Selecting the right type is crucial. Choosing the wrong type of fire detection can result in fires being difficult or impossible to detect at all.

  1. Manual Release & Abort Switch

If a fire occurs while occupants are present, the automatic fire suppression system can be manually activated using the Manual Release. The manual release is positioned outside the room to prevent the person activating the manual release from being inside the fire area. When the manual release is activated, ensure the door is closed so that INERGEN can work optimally to extinguish the fire. The abort switch is used to temporarily cancel the fire if it is determined that the active alarm is a false alarm.

  1. lnergen Cylinders

To store INERGEN extinguishing agents. The cylinder has a pressure gauge equipped with a low pressure switch to detect and provide automatic notification if there is an indication of low pressure. The common size used is 80 liters. With a pressure of 300 bar, the INERGEN Fire-Eater system is more economical and requires less space for cylinder placement. Equipped with the availability of a Fire Eater – Certified Boosting Facility in Indonesia, so that refilling INERGEN 300 bar can be done in Indonesia.

  1. Pressure Relief

When INERGEN is released into the room, the excess pressure in the room will be released through pressure relief to prevent over pressure from occurring.
